Inga Avanesyan
She was dreaming of becoming a lawyer. However, meeting the desire of her mother-midwife, Inga entered the Armenian Medical Institute after finishing school. Today she works in the maternity hospital of the Medical Center “Surb Grigor Lusavorich”. She loves her work, and applies the knowledge and practical skills acquired during the years of study for the sake of women’s health.
Having graduated from the AMI faculty of “General Medicine”, Inga completed an internship in the specialty “General Practitioner”, after which she completed a clinical residency programme at the Maternal and Child Health Research Centre.
Inga began her career in 2004 in the Armenian-American wellness center, where she worked as an obstetrician-gynecologist. In 2008, she defended her Ph.D. thesis.
Victoria Hovhannisyan
After finishing school N128 in Yerevan, in 1995, Victoria entered the faculty of “General Medicine” of the Armenian Medical Institute. After graduating from the latter, in 2001-2003, she completed a clinical residency programme in oncology at the National Center of Oncology. In 2004-2008 she worked in the department of proctology. Since 2008, Victoria has been working as a surgeon in the department of abdominal oncology. In 2010 she defended her Ph.D. thesis.
Lusine Voskanyan
In 1997 she graduated from the AMI faculty of “General Medicine”. In 1998 completed an internship with the qualification of General Practitioner. She was employed as a junior scientific worker-epidemiologist at the Research Institute of Epidemiology, Virology and Medical Parasitology of the RA Ministry of Health. Lusine has defended her Ph.D. thesis under the supervision of Academician Yuri Tadevos Aleksanyan.
Her scientific works are devoted to the immunological issues of “Enteral and parenteral
viral hepatitis”. She is the author of scientific articles and educational manuals.
Lusine currently works at the polyclinic N11 as a local therapist, as well as teaches Theoretical immunology in AMI. Since 2001, she has been the editor-in-chief of the AMI official magazine “Erebouni”.
Tatevik Khachatryan
After graduating from the AMI faculty of “General Medicine”, Tatevik completed a clinical residency programme in cardiosurgery at the RF Bakulev Scientific Center for Cardiovascular Surgery. She defended her thesis and received a PhD degree in Medicine. She then returned to Armenia and was employed at the Zeytun Cardiovascular Medical Center, as well as at the Medical Center “Normed”.
Ashot Arushanyan
In 1998, Ashot graduated from AMI. In the same year, he completed an internship at the Bakulev Scientific Center for Cardiovascular Surgery of the Russian Academy of Sciences. In 2000, he was admitted to the clinical residency of the same institute. In 2005, he defended his Ph.D. thesis and received a Ph.D. degree in Medicine. He has published 20 scientific works.
Ashot currently works as a junior scientific worker at the Bakulev Scientific Center for Cardiovascular Surgery of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Zoya Ohanyan
After graduating from Yerevan Medical College N2 with honours, Zoya was employed at the hemodialysis department of the Medical Center “Erebouni”. In 1991-1997, she was simultaneously studying at the faculty of “General Medicine” of the Armenian Medical Institute. In 2000, she was admitted to the clinical residency in epidemiology at the National Institute of Health.
For almost 9 years, she has been working as an epidemiologist at the Medical Center “Erebouni”. She has specialized in hospital epidemiology. In 2008, she defended her thesis on “Fundamentals of infection control over nosocomial infections in the department of resuscitation and intensive care” and received a Ph.D. degree in Medicine. Since 2016, she has been teaching at the Armenian Medical Institute.
Vahe Azatyan
Vahe was born and raised in a family of doctors. After graduating from the Armenian Medical Institute, he completed an internship at the dental clinic “Zhpit”. Later he was employed at the same clinic as well as at the Medical College on a part-time basis.
In 2006, Vahe was admitted to the clinical residency in plastic and maxillofacial surgery at the National Institute of Health. In 2010, he defended his thesis and received a PhD degree in Medicine. His love for medicine and science has been instilled by his family.
“My first scientific article was published in the 2nd collection of AMI student scientific materials”, he recalls today.
Vahe is happy that he has chosen the specialty of stomatologist, as he loves his job and does not imagine himself in a different area.
Hovhannes Stepanyan
Hovhannes finished school N 35 after Gogol. In 1993, he entered the Medical College N 2. After graduating the latter, in 1996-1998, he served in the Armenian Army. In 1998 he entered the faculty of “General Medicine” of the Armenian Medical Institute. After graduation Hovhannes continued his studies in plastic surgery at the National Institute of Health and became a plastic surgeon. Since 2008, he has been working as a plastic surgeon at the Medical Center “Yerevan”.
Arman and Verzhine Amirkhanyan
Their interest in medicine has been instilled since childhood. The brother and sister were often visiting their aunt, surgeon A.G. Gevorgyan, at her workplace and following the work of physicians. Independently of each other, Verzhine and Arman made a decision to become physicians.
Verzhine and Arman have graduated from the Armenian Medical Institute. In 2009-2011, Verzhine completed a clinical residency programme in proctology at the National Institute of Health. In 2013, she was retrained at Yerevan State Medical University after M. Heratsi. Since 2013, she has worked as a surgeon-coloproctologist at the Medical Center “Izmirlian”.
After fulfilling his duty in the Armenian Army, Arman also completed a clinical residency programme at Yerevan State Medical University and directed the working path to the Medical Center “Izmirlian”.
Today Arman and Verzhine have created a specialized group of proctologists “AVA” and work together with A.G. Gevorgyan.
Vruyr Udumyan
In 1994-2000, Vruyr has studied at the Armenian Medical Institute. Prior to that, he managed to graduate from Yerevan Medical College N2 with honours and serve in the Armenian Army.
Today Vruyr is a surgeon and works at the Medical Center “Grigor Narekatsi”. He has worked as a surgeon for nearly 10 years at the Center “MTsKh”. Vruyr is pleased and grateful to fate that he was fortunate enough to study at AMI and complete a clinical residency programme under a renowned surgeon, Professor Z.A. Ter-Avetikyan, who has become his teacher and with who he has been working so far.
Tatevik Ghazaryan
After finishing Hushakert secondary school in Armavir region, in 2003, Tatevik was admitted to the faculty of “General Medicine” of the Armenian Medical Institute. In 2009, after graduating from the HEI with honours, she was admitted to the clinical residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the National Institute of Health.
Successfully completing the clinical residency, she was employed as Head of Women’s Consultation Department at the Medical Center “Children of Jesus” in Memory of George and Anita Pakumean. At the same time, she was on duty at the maternity hospital of the Medical Center “Armavir”.
Tatevik is currently working at the Gynecology Department of the Medical Center “Metsamor”.
Christine Gharabaghtsyan
“Our family has many doctors. I became the first dentist. In 1997, I graduated from the faculty of “Stomatology” of the Armenian Medical Institute. Since 2001, I have worked in my favourite field”, says Christine Gharabaghtsyan, a graduate from the AMI faculty of “Stomatology”. In 2005, she retrained in Germany.
Karine Petrosyan
Today Karine Petrosyan, a stomatologist at the clinic “AMI-DENT” of the Armenian Medical Institute, teaches the AMI students, imparting her knowledge and experience to her students.
Before entering the Armenian Medical Institute, she graduated from the faculty of Economics of Yerevan Agricultural Academy. After graduating from the latter, Karine was employed at the same Institute. However, her love for medicine directed her to AMI.
In 1990, Karine and her brother were among the first AMI students. After successfully graduating from the Institute and completing an internship, Karine was employed as a doctor-stomatologist at Oshakan rehabilitation center. In 2005, she was again admitted to AMI, but this time as a stomatologist-pedagogue. She leads the phantom course of the therapeutic stomatology. The students love and respect Karine Petrosyan.
Karine Gharibyan
If many heard about the Armenian Medical Institute from others, Karine Gharibyan came to AMI, being aware of the local atmosphere, the quality of teaching staff and many other things. Her mother works at the Armenian Medical Institute.
In 1998, she graduated from the faculty of “General Medicine” of the Armenian Medical Institute. In 1998-1999, Karine completed an internship in General medicine and received the qualification of General Practitioner. In 2010, she completed a clinical residency programme in ophthalmology at the National Institute of Health after S. Avdalbekyan.
Since 2000, she has been working as a doctor-ophthalmologist at the polyclinic of “Yerevan Railway”.
Movsisyan Zhorzhik
In 2011, Zhorzhik finished his bachelor studies and in 2013 he obtained his Master’s degree in stomatology at the Armenian Medical Institute. In 2015, Zhorzhik completed a clinical residency programme in general stomatology at Yerevan State Medical University after Mkhitar Heratsi. He works at the stomatological clinic “AMI-DENT”, as well as teaches at AMI.
Gevorg and Gisane Shakaryan
Gevorg and Gisane are a married couple. They met at the Armenian Medical Institute and tied the knot.
After graduating from the Institute, they both completed a clinical residency programme in skin and venereal diseases.
Today Gevorg works as a dermatologist-venereologist at the Scientific Center of Dermatology and Sexually Transmitted Diseases. And Gisane works as a chief cosmetologist at the center “Helios”.
Lilit Vaghramyan
In 1994-2000, Lilit has studied and graduated from the faculty of “General Medicine” of the Armenian Medical Institute. Now she lives in the USA and cooperates with the organization “ECFMG”. She has successfully passed two stages of the medical licensing and is currently preparing for the last licensing exam. At the same time, she works in a private endocrinology clinic as a patient coordinator.
Kargan Galstyan
His love and interest in medicine are genetically inherited. Kargan Galstyan, being born in a family with many doctors, had no alternative. After fulfilling his duty in the Armenian Army, in 2003, he entered the faculty of “Stomatology” of the Armenian Medical Institute.
In 2009, after graduating from AMI, Kargan completed a clinical residency programme in family dentistry at the National Institute of Health.
Today he works as a stomatologist at Martuni Medical Center.
Arsen Goolikekhvayev
Arsen was born and raised in Ashgabat. After finishing school, he studied at the Medical College and became a medical assistant. At the age of 24, Arsen moved to Yerevan and was admitted to the faculty of “General Medicine” of the Armenian Medical Institute.
After completing a clinical residency programme in cardiology, since 2013, he has worked at the department of Cardiopulmonary resuscitation and Arrhythmology of the Cardiology Center of the Medical Center “Erebouni”, and is on duty in the emergency department.
Bella Arakelyan
After graduating from the faculty of “General Medicine” of the Armenian Medical Institute with honours, in 2002-2004, she completed a clinical residency programme in oncology. Since 2005, Bella has been working as a chemotherapeutist at the National Center of Oncology.
